Thong Yod is a traditional Thai dessert.It is popularly made on propitious occasion.The flavor is very sweet and soft because it made from egg yolks.The word 'Thong' which means gold.In belief of Thais,Gold symbolizes fame, wealth and riches forever.
Ingredients of Thong Yod :
1.18 Duck Eggs
2.Tong Yod Flour / Rice Flour 1 cup
3.Sugar 5 cups
4.Water from floating flowers 5 cups
How to make Thong Yod :
1.To make syrup,Add water from floating flowers and sugar in a brass pan.Heat to boiling and stew about 10-15 minutes. Separate into 2 parts syrup(one for put Thong Yod).Set aside to cool.
2.Separate only egg yolks in white cloth.Then beat eggs fluffy and smooth.Put Tong Yod Flour / Rice Flour.Miix egg yolks and Tong Yod Flour / Rice Flour to combine.
3.Add syrup in a brass pan and heat to boiling. For drops, then use your thumb, index finger and middle finger add the egg mixture.Then push it into the syrup. If the syrup is too thick, can add water just a little. Do this until the pan is full. Wait until it is cooked. If it rises up, it’s already cooked. Bring up and put in the syrup that separate before.
